We have jointly developed with our Spanish supplier REPSOL the first ready-to-use polypropylene compound specific for high tenacity strapping, incorporating 30% mechanically recycled post-consumer domestic plastic (PCR). This leads to a 9% carbon footprint reduction compared to regular fossil fueled raw material.

This is the achievement of months of hard work coming from Signode's Operations, Product Management, Global Sourcing teams and Repsol to make us able to deliver the first Dylastic® PCR Polypropylene strap with 30% Repsol Reciclex® RXP33AAA polypropylene inside.

Research into UK's use of plastic packaging finds households 'wishcycle' rather than recycle

25 Dec 2024
PC Correspondent

Wishcycling—the act of putting packaging in recycling bins and hoping for the best, rather than knowing it's recyclable—is something households are doing due to confusing product labels and differing recycling facilities around the country, experts warn.

The academics behind Lancaster University's Plastic Packaging in People's Lives (PPiPL) project have been working hand-in-hand with supermarkets, businesses, charities and waste management companies for the last 3.5 years to explore the ins and outs of how the UK thinks and acts when it comes to plastic food packaging.
