In doing so, Chase Plastics will aim to ensure that recovered ocean LDPE is recycled so that it can usefully contribute to the Circular Economy. Once recycled, the resultant rPE will be available to purchase directly from Chase Plastics or via Summit Systems who will also distribute the product. 

London-based Greenback Recycling Technologies Ltd. has acquired fellow United Kingdom-based plastics recycling technology provider Enval Ltd.

Two companies have merged their operations, "creating an industry leader in next-generation recycling of plastics,” Greenback says. The acquisition takes place following the inauguration of Greenback’s recycling plant in Cuautla, México, that uses the Enval technology.

The combined company will be headed by Greenback CEO Philippe von Stauffenberg.

BioPak’s new products include various sizes of chip boxes, chip cups, wrap wedges, sandwich wedges, ice cream cups, sushi trays and taco boxes.

The new sandwich wedges and wrap wedges are made from a sustainably sourced FSC Mix certified paperboard, with a waterproof Ingeo bioplastic lining and window.

The chip boxes and scoops are made with sustainably sourced FSC-certified paper and are certified industrially compostable.

It’s no surprise that preference for single-use plastics surged during the pandemic. In 2020, 71% of respondents in the U.S. said they were more concerned about hygiene and food safety than they were before COVID-19 began. But this year, that percentage dropped sharply to 37%. 

Little Gem Kale Crunch and Romaine Butter Crunch are two of the three new Bright and Crunchy blends being launched this fall.

This collaboration is helping Omni-Pac reduce CO2 emissions and replace single-use plastics.

HP’s Molded Fiber Tooling Solution provides a customised digital solution, aimed at optimising manufacturing processes, delivering high-quality products through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) grammage control and customized features like logos and textures.

Additionally, it is designed to enhance moulded fibre packaging sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint during tooling and part production, resulting in lighter parts with equal or better performance.

As it stands, most bag-in-box solutions are non-recyclable due to the multi-material laminates—but Liquibox is changing the status quo. Liquipure, a new line of mono-material bag-in-box solutions from Liquibox, is designed to meet recyclability guidelines. In addition, Liquipure flexible packaging saves a considerable amount of plastic from the landfill and helps FMCG companies meet their sustainability goals.

Sustainable thermoformed packaging supplier Placon Corp introduced its patent-pending recyclable oxygen-barrier material, OxyStar. Direct oxygen contact with perishable foods is known to significantly decrease the shelf life of oxygen-sensitive products, increasing food waste and shrinking profits for producers, said Placon. “OxyStar is the world’s first recyclable PET barrier material,” added the company.
