COP26 goes plastic-free with Re:Water – a new water brand bottled in 100% recycled aluminium

The British spring water brand, which uses 100% recycled aluminium bottles that are also 100% recyclable, is providing a bespoke COP26 custom-label bottle.

COP26 marks the second time Re:Water has been chosen by the government as the eco-friendly brand was appointed as the official water supplier for delegates at the G7 Summit in Cornwall in June.

Re:Water is also announcing today that it has signed up to the United Nations-backed global campaign Race to Zero, which aims to halve global emissions by 2030.

Dutch government’s new anti-single-use plastics policy 

Over a year ago, the Dutch government announced a new policy which is designed to reduce the use of single-use plastics in the Dutch catering and hospitality industry. In essence, the policy differentiates between food and drinks consumed on-site in cafes and restaurants, and anything ordered to take away. 

With this in mind, the new policy includes a ban on “the free supply of disposable plastic cups and food packaging for single use.” But what does this mean for you or your business?

Greiner Packaging develops cardboard-plastic tub for Henkel

Austria-based rigid and plastic packaging supplier Greiner Packaging has developed a sustainable packaging solution for Henkel’s new Somat Excellence 4in1 caps.

The cardboard-plastic tub uses 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) polypropylene (PP) for the exterior coating sourced from end-consumer households. The tub’s interior is made of white virgin material.

The cardboard wrap features around 100% recycled material and can be easily separated from the plastic tub for recycling.
