As Flexible Packaging reports, the packaging innovation will see Mitolo Family Farms’ premium Gourmandine potatoes sold in new paper bags – delivering a 64% reduction in plastic (when compared to the previous packaging for this product). 

The new Gourmandine paper packaging extends on previous sustainability steps taken by Mitolo Family Farms, as the company previously cut its use of plastic packaging in 2022 by reducing the thickness of plastic used to bag potatoes. 

Amcor, a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, has announced the expansion of its AmFiber™ Performance Paper packaging range in Europe to include heat seal sachets for dry culinary and beverage applications, such as instant coffee, drink powders, spices, seasonings, and dried soups.

Light Wrap, which has been specifically designed as a wraparound for cartons such as milk and juice cartons, offers a clever design that improves packaging while using less fibre. This results in a remarkable 19% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to current, alternative packaging methods.

German oral hygiene brand Paperdent has partnered with Elopak to launch its range of vegan, alcohol-free mouthwash in cartons made from sustainably sourced paperboard.

Paperdent is the first mouthwash brand to package its product in Elopak's D-PAK™ cartons, reducing the plastic content of its packaging by over 80% compared to conventional packaging for mouthwash.

The 500 ml D-PAK™ carton is made with paperboard from responsibly managed forests and is fully recyclable, as well as carbon neutral.
