Constantia Flexibles introduces EcoTwistPaper, an innovative packaging solution for the confectionery industry. This new product, a wax-free twist-wrap made entirely from paper, prioritizes recyclability and supports the global shift toward sustainable products.

EcoTwistPaper has undergone repulpability testing with the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) and has scored an impressive 90 out of 100 for its printed material.

As the first grocery chain in the country, ICA Sweden will shortly begin a transition of the flower tray to more environmentally friendly alternatives made of molded fiber. This change is part of ICA's efforts to reduce the use of plastic and promote more sustainable consumption. 

The event, which was held on 16 November 2023 in Madrid, looked at how to build systems that will prevent the disposal of used paper bags, working towards implementing a process of efficient collection, sorting, and recycling that can be managed on an industrial scale.

Targeting better performance

The team at Metsä Board’s Excellence Centre in Äänekoski, Finland started to work on the new alternative a few years ago. “We were looking to provide the same experience by remodeling a box that was strong and rigid but lighter and with a smaller environmental impact,” Ilkka Harju, Metsä Board’s Packaging Services Director explains.

The recent TAPPI trade show showcased the industry's increasing commitment to sustainable corrugated packaging solutions. Attendees witnessed a strong focus on eco-friendly practices and innovative approaches to meet growing environmental demands. Various companies displayed advancements in corrugated packaging, highlighting the industry's dedication to reducing its environmental footprint.

PakItGreen Inc., a newly launched barrier coatings company headquartered in Michigan, is poised to introduce a diverse range of solutions tailored for paper, paperboard, and molded fibers.

When it comes to gift tags, there are two main schools of thought: on one end you have those who finish their Christmas present shopping by the end of November who obviously also have made sure to buy specially matching gift tags.

At the other end of the spectrum, there are the less organised amongst us - those who simply cut strips of flimsy wrapping paper from the sheet as a panic-stricken last-minute gift tag that will just have to do because you've run out of time as the clock ticks ever closer to Christmas Day.
