Two new tamper evident cap labels offer improved pharma security

Cap-Lock is a specially constructed plastic cap adapter that is placed on top of the primary closure of the syringe to equalize the diameter differences of the syringe body and closure. Subsequently, a label with an integrated perforation for tamper evidence is applied that wraps around the syringe body and the bottom part of the cap adapter.

Blue Clover Studios Awarded Patent for Dose Neatly™

In a multi-year surveillance study from 2009-20161 , 513 cases with medication errors, due to an over the counter cold and cough medication ingredient, were evaluated. Determining that the errors occurred in children under six years of age, results also showed that the incorrect dose of medication caused 93.2% of the errors. With errors often occurring in liquid form, Blue Clover Studios decided to conduct additional research to determine the consumer challenges and identify opportunities for packaging innovation in the liquid format.

Germans produce more packaging waste than ever before

The volume of packaging waste in Germany rose to a record high in 2017.

According to a new report by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), 18.7 million tonnes were generated - an increase of 226.5 kilograms per person, and three percent over the previous year.

Private consumers held a share of 47 percent, or 107 kilograms per capita.

The UBA report on "The emergence and recycling of packaging in Germany" was published at the start of the "European Week for Waste Avoidance".

Williamston (MI, USA), 26.11.2019: The Bekum group celebrated recently three anniversaries – 60 years Bekum in Berlin Germany, 50 years Bekum in Traismauer Austria und 40 years Bekum in Williamston, USA. As part of the celebrations at the American location, the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of production capacities was made on November 26, 2019. A new building with a production area of 3,700 m² and almost 700 m² of office space will be added. This increases the site's operational area to more than 15,000 m².
