The collaboration allows Systech and Toppan to deliver innovative brand protection solutions that combat counterfeiting and prevent product diversion worldwide, they say. The combined offerings also help brands protect themselves from revenue erosion as a result of supply chain theft, and most importantly, protect consumers from potentially harmful products.

Hoffmann Neopac, a global supplier of high-quality metal and plastic packaging for the pharmaceutical and FMCG industries, is acquiring the production lines for hinged lid cans from Trivium Packaging in Deventer, the Netherlands. With this acquisition, Hoffmann Neopac strengthens its market position for specialty cans in Europe. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

All tinplate cans contain some recycled steel. At the inception of the RecyCan® process, typical household steel like used cans, closures and crown corks are collected for recycling. After steel elements are separated from aluminum and plastic packaging via magnet, they are shredded and detinned before being pressed into cubes. They are then melted down to raw steel and cast into slabs. The slabs are hot-rolled, cold-rolled and tin-plated to produce packaging steel, which can be printed and formed into fresh new tinplate packaging cans.

According to managing director Uwe Peregi, the addition includes a new training and buy-off center for customer seminars and practical technological training, a completely new packaging and metal laboratory for material testing, and redesigned office space. The work is scheduled for completion in June 2020.

The global presence and the important North American market for ultrasonic welding of plastics, nonwovens, packaging and metals will be strengthened. The focus is on markets such as the medical and automotive industries, e-mobility batteries, food and hygiene.
