Parkside has partnered with vegan chocolate brand Mummy Meegz to develop a 100 percent home compostable pack for its indulgent Swiss Choccy Balls. 

The vividly colored pink and blue pouches are made with Parkside’s Park2Nature compostable material, meaning the chocolates are both sustainably sourced and packed in TÜV-certified home compostable packaging. The new product launch comes hot on the heels of the successful launch of the brand’s Billie Bars, vegan swap chocolate bars that were also packed in Park2Nature.  

Until now, the chocolate industry was one of the worst offenders for packaging recyclability. For 18 months, Cox & Co has been working towards producing a paper flow wrap to replace its compostable plastic packaging. Working closely with a paper manufacturer in Sweden, it has now created the first ever 100% paper flow wrapped chocolate bar.

Offering a 12-month minimum shelf life, Cox & Co’s innovative new paper flow wrap solution is a huge step in the right direction to reducing the huge amount of chocolate packaging waste that currently ends up in landfill.

Klöckner Pentaplast (kp) launched the first food packaging trays comprising 100% recycled PET (rPET) deriving exclusively from trays.

Until now, food packaging trays have been manufactured using ever-increasing proportions of recovered PET material; however, the newly launched kp tray is the first to be composed entirely of recycled tray material, said the company. This milestone is the result of the kp’s Tray2Tray initiative, which aims to rewrite the PET recycling rules.
