The logo will roll out in fall 2024 to celebrate the company's century-long heritage as one of North America’s largest producers of carrots, according to a news release. Bolthouse Fresh Foods said the rebranding, themed “Modern Roots,” combines modernity with authenticity, bringing a fresh, dynamic and innovative spirit to its products.

“Bolthouse Fresh Foods is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of our consumers by offering high-quality, nutrient-rich fresh products that excel in today’s ever-evolving market,” said CEO Timothy Escamilla.

Finnish company Raisio has signed the Green Deal on reducing the consumption of single-use plastic (SUP) food containers at a time when the F&B industry continues its efforts to reduce its dependence on such containers and promote a circular economy.

The company will reportedly explore substitutes to single-use plastic food containers and packaging solutions that contain less plastic than the current level.

Sari Koivulehto-Mäkitalo, CLO, Legal Affairs and Corporate Responsibility at Raisio, states:

Around 100 of these chemicals are considered to be of "high concern" to human health, said lead study author Birgit Geueke from the Food Packaging Forum Foundation, a Zurich-based NGO.

Some of these chemicals are relatively well-studied and have already been found in human bodies, such as PFAS and bisphenol A—both of which are the target of bans.

But little is known about the health effects of others, Geueke told AFP, calling for more research into how chemicals used in packaging end up being swallowed along with food.

Partnering with Hardegger Käse dairy, the retailer is replacing traditional plastic packaging with an eco-friendly alternative.

The move is part of Lidl Switzerland's broader sustainability strategy aimed at reducing plastic.

The new cellulose packaging, which houses the popular Alpstein and Usserrhödler organic mountain cheeses, is made from recycled wood sourced from FSC-certified forests. Production of the packaging is free from fossil fuels, while the packaging itself effectively preserves the cheese's flavour while ensuring food safety.

With the move, Mondelez said that up to 50% of the plastic in the bag-in-box liner films for Triscuit will be sourced from an advanced platform — known as chemical or molecular recycling — employing the ISCC PLUS-certified mass balance approach, which supports a more circular pack economy through the use of renewable materials and energy.
