This very prestigious award for SimpliCycle™ comes after Aptar’s recyclable flow control valve received the Best CSR/Sustainability Initiative award at the 2021 World Food Innovation Awards. The WorldStar competition is one of the major events of the World Packaging Organization (WPO) and is the pre-eminent global award in packaging. SimpliCycle was selected among 440 entries for its impact on sustainability, innovation, and high-performance dispensing.

High-quality protective packaging can be produced using the raw material sourced from chemical recycling, which protective packaging specialist Storopack demonstrated during the pilot phase of BASF’s ChemCycling project. At a press conference just before K 2019, the world’s largest trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, Storopack introduced the first prototypes of this project along with BASF and the three other partner companies – Jaguar Land Rover, Südpack, and Schneider Electric – at the beginning of July.

Siegwerk, one of the leading global providers of printing inks and coatings for packaging applications and labels headquartered in Germany, has announced the launch of its ‘Mineral Oil Free Ink’ range in the Indian market. Mineral oils as a huge group of chemicals, have earned disrepute globally for their bad toxicological profile with several research studies confirming the migration of mineral oils into the food.

In addition to producing its bottles using only 100% recycled, certified ocean-bound plastic, which supports the growth of global recycling rates and helps clean at-risk coastal environments, ZenWTR is enabling the removal of additional plastic waste from natural environments through its Plastic Negative Certification. This is yet another step the brand is taking to make a positive impact beyond its own footprint and ultimately leave the world in a better place.

Tetra Pak, in partnership with Elvir, a subsidiary of Savencia Fromage & Dairy - a world leading milk processor - has become the first carton packaging player in the food and beverage industry to launch a cap using certified recycled polymers.

This move marks a key step in both companies’ progress towards circularity. By helping to find an economically sound use for plastic waste and responsibly sourcing raw materials, Tetra Pak and Elvir continue to minimise their dependency on virgin, fossil-based resources.
