This is what i saw recently readymade gole gappe popularly known in mumbai as paani puri. Earlier it was hard to find this indian moth watering snack readymade and one had to go to street side hawker most of the time. Sometimes, when you have foreign guests whom yu would like to try this but afraid of the hygiene, then these nicely packed gole gappe are a good idea. This is thanks to packaging technology and the comapny who thought of doing it. After seeing this, i could see that there are many more improvements that an experienced packaging technologist can do to it so that inside gole gappe are not broken and its easier to use them. But the concept is wonderful and a welcome idea, we should try snacks and make them global. It would be good for products and good for packaging.

Hi, ready made panni puri or we call them in Delhi as GOLGAPPE are readily available in readymade packs as well, be it BIKANER WALA,HALDIRAM,RAMESHWAREM`S and many more small shops also started this concept of packing without the breaking of single panni puri. No doubt people have become more tec-savvy now a days & it shows in bussiness as well. We have a Pan Wallah in Dwarka, delhi who is having a web site of his own. Gr8.

you are right, local snacks are catching up and its good news that we are not stuck up with Western fast foods only when we have such nice tasty age old concepts in India, by the way, what is the website address of Pan Wallah in Dwarka?

Instant golgappe if we can call them, are surely becoming popular in the households! I am one of the loyal buyer of these from nearly a year now. Not only is it cost effective, but also convientient as one can prepare the snack as per his/her taste. For the packaging part this instant golgappe has seen a lot of change in the packaging. In its initial days the chatani used to come in a plastic bottle, now it has been reduced to a metpet 3ply sachet. Though a cost saving alternative, but if kept for long time the chatani leaches out of the pack. The corrugated carton also needs redesigning to protect the golgappa from breaking. The golgappa are packed in simple polybag, which is not a good bet looking at the extreme weather conditions especially in north. The gappa's go rancid very soon in hot summers and even turn soggy. Though one of the few good initiatives to make Indian snacks instant and ready to eat at home. The packaging surly needs a lot of revamping.
