FDI in Retail in India: Will it help packaging?

IMG01636-20120708-0556 Now Government of India has allowed FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) for retailing. So we may see Walmarts of the world coming to India and adding to more organized trade in India. Different people have different opinions about it. Some say it would be good for Indian consumers and some say Indian farmers will lose to multinational companies. Government says that they are taking sufficient measures so that Indian consumers can really benefit. But from packaging point of view, I think it would add the great values. As you can see how is the current retailing happening in many parts of the country. This is the last month picture from Hyderabad in India. It shows that we have huge potential to improve the retail packaging. This would then increase the demand of qualified packaging professionals and also more packaging industries would come. So packaging could be a good career for atleast next 10 years before any other industry boom comes. And our www.PackagingConnections.com would help to bring new packaging ideas to develop better retail. What do you say?

Hi Can't say about FDi. It has positive and negative both factors. India has allowed the direct foreign Investments. It means there is more chances to loose the business to some retail merchants but it is more profitable to Indian Government due to more taxes. Walmarts can give the more service ans sale tax to the Government.
