Nobelus Launches StrataFlex Thermal Pre-Lams for Digital Flexible Packaging Market

Nobelus, a leading provider of print web films and thermal sealants, has entered the structural flexible packaging market with the launch of StrataFlex Thermal Pre-Lams—a new line of thermal pre-laminations specifically designed for the digital flexible packaging sector.

These products represent Nobelus’s first multi-layer offerings in structural packaging and are tailored to optimize speed, workflow efficiency, and print quality for thermal converters.

Each StrataFlex Thermal Pre-Lam features a METPET core, which serves as a moisture and oxygen barrier. The structure includes a PE-based sealant layer on one side and a thermally activated EVA adhesive on the other, allowing converters to reverse print on their preferred print web and laminate using standard thermal equipment.

Available in metallic silver or white, StrataFlex eliminates the need to flood the print web with white ink, offering further savings and efficiency.

“These thermal pre-lams are a unique solution for the evolving needs of digital flexible packaging,” said Roy Langlois, Product Manager at Nobelus. “They marry the quick turnaround and high margins of digital printing with the proven advantages of reverse printing, all while supporting thermal lamination workflows.”

Traditionally, converters surface print onto a pre-lam and apply a thermal laminate to complete the package. In contrast, StrataFlex allows for reverse printing on thinner, adhesive-free films, improving bond integrity and extending the life of key press components like blankets.

“By reverse printing on longer rolls of film, converters can reduce material changeovers and significantly boost uptime,” added Ryan Chai, Strategic Accounts Solution Specialist at Nobelus. “This leads to higher throughput, better quality, and reduced wear on digital equipment. It’s a real game-changer for anyone using thermal lamination.”

StrataFlex Thermal Pre-Lams are part of the company’s expanding Foundations Collection, which also includes EcoElement PE Thermal Sealants—a new line designed for thermal converters requiring PE-based sealing on demand.

Nobelus will showcase both product lines at Dscoop Edge 2025, Booth 545, highlighting their commitment to innovation in digital flexible packaging solutions.
