Nemera Launches DuoSpray, Strengthening Its Systemic Intranasal Delivery Platform Portfolio

Nemera announces the launch of DuoSpray in September 2026, a bidose nasal spray platform designed to support nasal drug-device combination product development for systemic drug administration.

The nasal route represents a non-invasive, needle-free administration alternative for systemic therapies, offering rapid onset of action and enabling self-administration without healthcare professional intervention.

The launch of DuoSpray reflects Nemera’s strategy to provide pharmaceutical companies with flexible, commercially ready platform solutions that help accelerate the adoption of systemic intranasal therapies.

This new solution complements the commercially available UniSpray platform, strengthening Nemera’s comprehensive offering in systemic nasal drug delivery.

A complementary unidose and bidose platform strategy

Together, UniSpray and DuoSpray provide a platform offering for systemic intramucosal nasal administration, with format selection depending on drug volume, posology, intended use and product-specific development strategy.

While UniSpray supports unidose applications, ideally suited for life-saving and crisis applications, DuoSpray delivers two metered doses within a single device, for acute therapies.

Nemera’s platform approach supports both emerging and established nasal administration of systemic therapies, including innovative drugs, repurposed molecules and generics, while offering flexibility throughout the product lifecycle.

Built on Nemera’s device expertise, with a strong focus on patient needs and product robustness, DuoSpray is a platform that pharmaceutical companies can immediately integrate into product development programs, supporting a faster path toward clinical evaluation and commercialization.

A robust bidose platform

DuoSpray features a robust design compatible with industry-standard primary containers and conventional filling lines, helping to accelerate development timelines and de-risk industrialization.

It delivers 200 µL of liquid formulation through two metered doses of 100µL and integrates a visual dose indicator, offers a broad labelling surface and may be customized depending on product-specific needs.

Combined with Nemera's expertise in usability, spray performance testing, in vitro bioequivalence and regulatory support, DuoSpray helps pharmaceutical companies reduce development, regulatory and manufacturing risks throughout the combination product journey. This makes DuoSpray a strong solution particularly relevant for acute therapies, including Central Nervous System (CNS) applications.

Dimitri Grasswill, Vice President Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), commented: “The launch of DuoSpray is an important step in Nemera's ambition to become the partner of choice for systemic intranasal drug delivery. By combining complementary liquid platforms with expanding dry powder capabilities, we are building a comprehensive portfolio of intranasal solutions that helps pharmaceutical companies bring innovative therapies to patients faster and with reduced development risk. Our goal is not only to provide devices, but to support our customers from early development through successful commercialization.”

Together with Nemera’s broader expertise in liquid and dry powder nasal delivery, including the recently announced DriDose® technology partnership with Therakind, DuoSpray further strengthens a growing portfolio of intranasal delivery solutions addressing evolving pharmaceutical development needs.
