Mondi’s PaperPlus Bag Advanced Where Performance Meets Sustainability

In a move that sets a new benchmark in sustainable industrial packaging, Mondi has unveiled its latest innovation the re/cycle PaperPlus Bag Advanced. This high-barrier paper bag has been designed specifically for humidity-sensitive products, offering outstanding moisture protection while drastically cutting down on plastic use. It's a step change for sectors like building and construction, where moisture control is critical but sustainability is becoming non-negotiable.

The real breakthrough lies in the technology behind the barrier: a high-performance 20 µm film, which delivers the same protection as traditional 50 µm plastic layers but with up to 60% less plastic and a significantly lower carbon footprint, as confirmed by Mondi’s own Product Impact Assessment (PIA) tool.

Part of the re/cycle portfolio, this bag doesn’t just perform it’s designed with circularity in mind. It passes the recyclability standards laid out by CEPI and 4Evergreen, ensuring that once it’s done protecting what's inside, it can move on to its next life in the recycling stream.

Developed in close partnership with UZIN, a producer of fast-drying flooring systems, the PaperPlus Bag Advanced proves its strength under real-world conditions keeping materials dry even in tough environments. Perhaps most impressive is its plug-and-play nature: no need for changes on existing filling or sealing lines, making adoption seamless for manufacturers.

This forward-thinking packaging solution earned Bronze at the 2025 EUROSAC Grand Prix, a testament to Mondi’s continued leadership in sustainable packaging.

“PaperPlus Bag Advanced is a future-ready alternative for customers seeking to reduce plastic and meet performance demands without compromising on efficiency,” says Max Melzer, Head of External Sales Industrial Bags at Mondi.

With this launch, Mondi shows how innovation, functionality, and environmental responsibility can and must go hand in hand in the future of packaging.
