What It Is & Where It's Used

Roll Stock for Automated Filling Lines

Laminated rolls and printed films are supplied as reels rather than finished pouches, feeding directly into vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) or horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) machines on your own production floor. The film is laminated to a specific layer structure — for example BOPP/metallized-BOPP/LDPE — engraved and gravure-printed to your artwork, then slit to the exact web width your machine takes.

This is the format of choice for manufacturers running high-volume automated lines: snack and namkeen producers, spice and masala packers, tea and coffee sachet lines, detergent and personal-care sachet fillers, and confectionery units that need continuous roll feed rather than pre-made bags.

Because the film structure, print cylinder, and slit width are all specified against your machine and product, roll stock typically runs faster and with fewer line stoppages than a generic off-the-shelf laminate.

Typical Buyers

  • Snack & namkeen manufacturers running VFFS lines
  • Spice, masala & dry-mix packers
  • Tea, coffee & instant-beverage sachet fillers
  • Detergent & personal-care sachet producers
Why It Performs

Engineered Against Your Line, Not a Catalogue

Every roll is specified to a machine, a product, and a shelf-life target — not sold as a generic stock item.

Barrier Performance
Metallized BOPP, BOPET, and EVOH-layer options control oxygen transmission and moisture vapour transmission rate (MVTR) to match declared shelf life.
Print Quality
Rotogravure printing up to 8-9 colours with registered spot varnish and matte/gloss combinations for sharp on-shelf reproduction.
Durability
Seal strength and puncture resistance are tested to your fill weight and product sharpness (e.g. fried snacks, granular spice) before bulk run.
Flexible MOQ
Roll-form orders start lower than finished-pouch runs — one cylinder set can support repeat orders in smaller batch sizes.
Customisation
Web width, print repeat length, reel core diameter, and film structure are all set against your specific machine, not a standard SKU.
Quality Systems
Seal-strength testing, gauge/thickness checks, and print registration inspection run on every batch before dispatch.
Technical Support
Our team reviews your VFFS/HFFS machine parameters and product characteristics before finalising film structure.
Supply Reliability
Extrusion, lamination, and printing run across our West-North-South partner network, so reel supply doesn't depend on one plant.
Specification Options

Formats, Materials & Finishes

Every roll is built to your machine's web width and your product's barrier requirement.

Format Options

Roll structures for common form-fill-seal setups.

  • Two-layer laminate (print film + sealant layer)
  • Three-layer laminate (print film + barrier film + sealant)
  • Four-layer high-barrier laminate with metallized or foil core
  • Reverse-printed monolayer film for lower-cost, shorter shelf-life SKUs

Material Options

Selected against oxygen, moisture, light, and grease exposure.

  • BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) — print and sealant layers
  • BOPET / PET — dimensional stability and higher heat resistance
  • Metallized BOPP / metallized PET — light and oxygen barrier at lower cost than foil
  • LDPE / LLDPE sealant layers — seal integrity across a wider heat-seal window
  • Aluminium foil lamination — maximum barrier for aroma-sensitive or long-shelf-life products

Finish Options

Surface finish affects shelf standout and handling on high-speed lines.

  • Gloss lamination for vibrant colour reproduction
  • Matte / soft-touch lamination for a premium hand-feel
  • Spot gloss / spot matte combinations for pack differentiation
  • Anti-static or anti-block treatment for consistent machine feed

Customisation Choices

Set once per machine, then repeated on every reorder.

  • Web width matched to your VFFS/HFFS former
  • Print repeat length matched to pack size
  • Reel core diameter and outer roll diameter for your unwind stand
  • Up to 9-colour rotogravure print with brand-specific Pantone matching
Why Packaging Connections

A Technical Partner for Roll-Form Supply

Roll-form orders live or die on gauge consistency and reel-to-reel repeatability — this is where our plant network and in-house team earn their keep.

100+ Years Combined Experience
Techno-commercial expertise across domestic and export flexible packaging markets.
In-House Pouching, Vapi
If you later move from roll-form to pre-made pouches, the same specification runs through our own unit — no re-engineering the film structure.
West, North & South India Network
Extrusion and gravure printing capacity across multiple plants means your reorder isn't hostage to one machine's downtime.
Spec-to-Shipment Support
Our team reviews machine parameters, product characteristics, and target shelf life before recommending a film structure.

Applications & Challenges Solved

Built Around What Runs Through Your Line

Each sector fights a different failure mode on the packing line — here's how film structure is set to solve for it.

Fried Snacks & Namkeen
Challenge: grease migration and seal contamination
Grease-resistant BOPP structures with wide heat-seal windows keep seals clean even when oily product falls into the seal area on high-speed VFFS lines.

Spices & Masala
Challenge: aroma loss and light-driven colour fade
Metallized or foil-based barrier layers block light and hold volatile aroma compounds in, protecting both flavour and shelf appearance.

Detergent & Personal-Care Sachets
Challenge: chemical attack from surfactants and fragrance oils
Chemically resistant sealant layers and compatible adhesives prevent delamination or seal failure from aggressive liquid formulations.

FAQs

Common Questions

What's the minimum order quantity for laminated rolls?
Roll-form orders typically start around 500 kg per film structure, though this varies by material combination and web width. Once a print cylinder is engraved for your artwork, reorder quantities can be lower.
How do I know which film structure fits my product?
Tell us your product (fried snack, spice, powder, liquid sachet), target shelf life, and your VFFS/HFFS machine's web width and sealing temperature range. Our technical team recommends a structure and, where useful, a barrier comparison before you commit.
Can you match my existing roll supplier's film structure exactly?
Yes — send us a sample reel or the technical data sheet from your current supplier and we'll match gauge, layer structure, and seal performance, then quote against it.
Is there a separate charge for the print cylinder?
Gravure cylinders are a one-time engraving cost, quoted separately from the per-kg film price. Cylinders are retained for your reorders, so the cost is not repeated on every batch.
How fast can I get a quote?
Submit your web width, film structure or product type, and monthly volume through the form below, and our team responds with a costed quote within 24 hours.
