In a significant breakthrough for the label and packaging industry, German labelstock innovator VPF has launched a pioneering inkjet wine paper program tailored for water-based inkjet printing systems. This new line redefines what's possible in premium label production by offering richly textured, sustainable papers optimized for both pigment and dye-based inkjet printers without sacrificing the tactile charm or visual elegance expected by luxury brands.
The program kicks off with four premium-grade paper options, all available in small minimum order quantities (just 1,000 m²), making it a versatile and scalable solution for wine, spirits, gourmet food, and cosmetics brands that require flexible, high-quality labeling across small and medium-sized runs.
Recycled Meets Refined
Among the standout innovations is the VPF 13825 “Laid White,” the first-ever 100% recycled inkjet paper designed specifically for water-based inkjet printing. It joins other sustainable options in the launch line-up, including the “Bagasse White” (60% sugarcane fiber) and “Martelé White” (40% recycled content), reinforcing VPF’s commitment to combining environmental responsibility with uncompromised performance.
Embossed Elegance Meets Inkjet Precision
Until now, label printers have faced limitations when using water-based inkjet systems on high-quality, textured or embossed papers. VPF’s proprietary inkjet coating overcomes this barrier. These new papers retain their original embossing, both in look and feel, while offering vastly improved color brilliance and drying times ensuring vivid, high-end print results without loss of tactile sophistication.
Adaptable Adhesive Options
VPF has also expanded adhesive compatibility, offering both the permanent 951 adhesive and the 605 wash-off adhesive, which enables label removal in alkaline solutions at 70°C ideal for reusable glass bottles and sustainable packaging loops. Additional adhesives ranging from hot melt to cold-washable—are available on request with standard MOQs.
Custom Coatings Available
True to its agile production ethos, VPF offers bespoke coating services. The inkjet coating can be applied to customer supplied specialty embossed papers, allowing for truly custom labelstock development based on individual branding needs.
With this release, VPF bridges the gap between premium aesthetics, sustainability, and digital printing flexibility empowering small-batch producers to elevate their brand presence with professional, eco-conscious packaging.
