A film specially innovated to address the issue of slippage of layers over each other, it has a seal strength of more than 1,800 gf/inch with a seal initiation temperature of 950C. It helps in achieving uniform sealing area of
the final pouches as it helps in preventing the issue of inter-layer slippage.

Film-to-film coefficient of friction range is more than 0.4 while film-to-metal
coefficient of friction range lies between 0.3 to 0.4.

"Demand for packaging material from apple growers has witnessed a decrease of 10 to 15 per cent compared to last year,” said Surinder Jain, Chairman, All India Corrugation Box Manufacturers Association. The manufacturers rued that the state government had failed to plead their case before the GST Council, following which the the tax was raised.

Meanwhile, apple growers are fearful of incurring losses. “Cost of packaging material has increased by 10 to 15 per cent. Our margins are also shrinking due to factors such as unpredictable weather,” said Govind, an apple grower.

The RePEat range – which includes stand-up pouches and films – is all made from pure PE, which means it can be recycled in the LDPE recycling stream.

Peter Ralten, chief commercial officer, said: “Our RePEat range has proven to be very popular. Spouted pouches are widely used, and so offering a fully recyclable version has been an important development for us.

“We can supply a range of different sizes and different spout types, and the pouches can be either filled through the spout or top-filled – with the spouts placed in either the corners or the centre of the pouch.

The study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, analyzed data from more than 6,000 pregnant women in the United States. Researchers found that the women who had higher traces of phthalates in their urine were more at risk of a premature birth, typically three or more weeks before the due date.

The samples from these women were collected for over 30 years. Researchers noted that despite their findings that high exposure to phthalates could cause premature births, most of the women in the experiment recorded having dramatically high levels of the harmful chemicals. 

Scientists have developed a new packaging film with clay nanotubes and antibacterial essential oils that can prevent microbial growth and over-ripening of fruits, keeping them fresh for longer.
