Eric Oransky of Maine Ocean Farms joins his crew of four on a Wednesday morning in Freeport, loading coolers and large containers of ice on what's expected to be a large harvest of farmed oysters.

Oransky and his colleague, Erin Adams, loaded the coolers down to Carter, who also works at Maine Ocean Farms.

Once packed, they made the journey to the floating oyster farm and take in a few hundred Wet Smack and Recompense Cove Oysters, their signature oyster breed.

While the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an advisory for eateries, restaurants and other establishments not to use stapler pins and cello adhesive tapes but only food grade material for packaging food items, hoteliers and those involved in food delivery have expressed confusion saying that this is unnecessary.

About the advisory, Sanjay Naragude, joint commissioner FDA (food), said that though there have been no cases so far where stapler pins or cello tape used to package food has been swallowed, the FDA has issued precautionary measures for the same.

Increase in packaging cost worries apple growers in J&K

As per reports, a carton box of apples costs Rs 100–110 this year, compared to Rs 55–60 the previous year. Apple growers claimed that the growers had been negatively impacted by the unexpected hike of Rs 50 per box.

Fruit grower Muhammad Shaban from Rafiabad Baramulla told Greater Kashmir that the increase of 1 to 2 percent can be accepted, but 50 percent increase is surprising.

Apple growers informed that the spontaneous increase in the raw material is the cause of the carton price hike and the scarcity of the raw material also forced producers to raise the price.

Agrochemical labelling that helps keep products safer

Agrochemical labels are governed by stringent legal requirements for product labelling because of their hazardous chemical compositions. It’s this information that ensures the product’s safe handling, storage, and usage.

However, with standard label solutions, the available space is normally too small for mandatory text such as dosage and storage instructions, contraindications, and product descriptions to be legible. The result is often information-cluttered primary packaging and a separate insert inside the product’s secondary pack.
