Salary Survey 2018 for Packaging Profesionals Globally

Salary is one of the critical parameters on the basis of which employees accept or reject jobs. It has always been a challenge for employers and employees to understand the right balance. Generally, there is no thumb rule to understand this balance, but employers tend to follow the band systems or industry norms. Packaging Connections has been doing a non-profitable survey to get an insight on current salary trends in packaging industry. We did the surveys in the years 2012 and 2014. We got tremendous responses each time from both Domestic and International. The analysis report was later shared with the industry and was well appreciated. We are again back this year with the survey to analyze the current situation. We shall of-course share with industry the results of salary survey for the benefit of both employers and employees in the packaging industry. Hence, we look forward for your responses. Are plastics really bad for environment? A packaging survey to find the truth & solution

Are plastics actually bad for our envrionment or there is something else? What is your say? During World Environment Day 2018, the theme is "Beat Plastic Pollution" and slogan is "moving towards  a plastic-free future". But don't you think blaming plastics alone is not right. It is true disposable plastics, bottles and non-recyclable waste is the worry of every one but banning all the plastics is definitely not the solution. There are ways which by which we can reduce plastic pollution but we have to make efforts to follow them. Simply banning a laminate or a PET bottle can never give a satisfactory solution to this global problem. Plastics are not inherently bad. It's what we do, or don't do, with them that counts - Sylvia Earle (National Geographic Explorer-in Residence). This quote is actually true, the issue is not with the plastic but with our disposal systems, waste management and our habits. We have created a small survey to hear your thoughts on this global problem and how we can find the solution to this. Here is the link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/plasticsandenvironment

Preparing for Packaging Job Posting and Packaging Jobs

Fortune favours the prepared mind, Louis Pasteur   It’s the great saying. Companies are built with good team. To develop the good team, you need good talent. And if you have good team then you will do well and that means will make more profits, means more money or say fortune. Same way, if you join the good company, you will get good atmosphere and will do well, that means you will get paid nicely or other words you will be fortunate.   Our research showed that currently most of packaging jobs are filled through personal references or smaller social media groups. You hardly see any organized global platform to bring companies and packaging professionals together so that both companies and professionals can have wider choices & more opportunities to explore.   In order to fill this gap, we sponsored the creation of PackagingBrains.com. Sustainability in packaging, what do you say?

Hello Packaging Friends, We at Packaging Connections continuously thrive to work on something different and this time we are targeting an important yet a very confusing topic "sustainability". When we use this term, most of the people refer it to as something which is "degradable" or "made of natural resources" but actually the term is very wide. Simply saying a material is degradable doesn’t make it sustainable and vice versa. We are in the process of understanding this topic which could be further used to help packaging industry in lot many ways. Of course we need your help for doing this since there is a lot of information available in bits and pieces with many of us. So bringing these pieces together may help in solving the puzzle and understand the mystery, myths, facts and confusions related to the topic "SUSTAINABILITY". We have created a small survey with some related questions and doubts. I hope the masters from packaging industry shall help us by filling in the survey with their knowledge and databank. Everyone needs their products to be tested at some point of the time (project) for the right packaging parameters and specifications. The scenario is such that the multinationals have their own testing labs and their own procedures to perform tests so they either do it in-house or use outsourced labs to get the testing done. When it comes to large, medium and small scale packaging industries (supplier, user companies or even students) they are solely dependent on outsourced labs. However, there are many challenges like longer lead times, incorrect test results or even un- awareness about the labs that can do the tests. At Packaging Connections, we work towards creating awareness and providing our best services to our friends in packaging sector. We even get lot of inquiries asking for “which labs are there to perform packaging testing” or “do you provide testing facilities” or “I want to test for specifications of my packaging, any suggestions”. Similarly, there are many queries that we get from across the world”.

Tantra of Packaging - Interpack 2017

Tantra a word typically used in India in many ways. The more its used by spiritually inclined people. There are various things like Yantra, Tantra and Mantra in India for understanding the life and beyond, for attaining ultimate peace called Nirvana. So for me, Tantra of packaging available here. Tantra literally means “to weave”. Or you can say it implies “interweaving of traditions and teachings as threads” into a text, technique or practice. This is what I saw at Interpack, this was full of people from different cultures all over the world, so many people, so many machines, so many booths, so many materials, so many processes, so many innovations and so many and so many. They all were brought together by Interpack and that’s the reason I call it Tantra of Packaging. Our key findings from the show were: Bioplastics and green packaging solutions Automation for higher productivity, reduction of errors Use of robotics Softwares like ERP, testing, simulation Focus on serialisation implementation Digital printing Options to increase product shelf life Recruitment of Packaging professionals in an organized manner And then there was some focus on packaging education but I think this should have been better. Only disappointing thing for us was a bit discouraging/unfriendly behaviours by couple of companies towards visitors when they asked for details. I do not want to name the company but it was not nice. Visitors are there to make the show successful and so they got to be treated with dignity. Of course, visitors should also maintain the decorum. I am not sure if I should be mentioning this here but I could not stop myself reporting the truth at such a big show, its an expensive show bit for participating as well as for visiting. This was a shock for me as this has never happened with me in past but I guess it is natural when so many people come together and jump for information which is not easily available. So I guess it needs the framing of Code of Conduct at the show by organizers to make it more friendly. This is specially more important when they are expanding by way of Interpack Alliance in different parts of the world. I was personally happy to see the progress of Flex to Uflex doing so great, Mr Ashok Chaturvedi had same friendly welcome as he had 25 hears back. I met him now after 12 years and he had all the time for me and that’s what I liked about him that he is always available,
